Proteins

back

When fats and carbohydrates are not plentiful in your body to be readily burned as fuel sources, proteins are burned off but not efficiently. Proteins like meats, fish, chicken, eggs, nuts and beans are generally eaten to promote muscle recovery after exercise.

Approximately 15% of your caloric intake should be in the form of proteins. That is about .54 – .64 g/lb/day per individual.
